Presentation To Miss I. Pickering

Miss I. Dickering, who is to be married to Mr. J. R. Lamaeon shortly, was presented with an engraved clock by members of the executive committee ol the Wellington Women's Cricket Awociation at ti meeting of the association in Wellington on Monday night. In making the presentation, Miss J. Stenberg, wiio presided, expressed appreciation of Miss Pickering's services while on the executive of tlie a.-eociatiou. Miss Pickering had been on the executive for four years, and for the last three years had been treasurer. She had put in a great deal of time and work in the interests of women's cricket and had contributed in no small mens-ure to the place it occupied in the Dominion. The secretary. Mrs. D. E. Simons, also paid a tribute to the work of Miss Pickering. Miss Pickering suitably replied. A letter was received from the Christchurch association nominating Air. Webb as their umpire in the forthcoming Can-terbury-Wellington representative match. The Wellington association decided to ask Mr. J. IL Thornton to be their umpire. Other details for the match were completed and Mrs. D. E. Simons was appointed manager of the Wellington team. A donation of £l/10/- was received from the .Mercantile League Umpires’ Association for the pavilion fund and £2 was received from various clubs in the association. It was reported ’that donations to the fund now totalled £l5/14/6.
