The Hon. P. C. Webb, Minister of Mines, has returned to Wellington from a visit to the West Const.

Mr. George Trippncr loft Auckland Sydney by the Aornngi last night. Dr. J. Crawford and Mrs. Crawford left Wellington by the steamer express last night. Mr. Norman Heath was a passenger by the limited express arriving at Wellington yesterday. Mr. V. Borthwick was a passenger by the steamer express from Wellington last night.

Mr. C. R. Ford arrived at Wellington by the limited express from Auckland yesterday.

Mr. M. C. Hassall, manager of the D.1.C., Christchurch, returned to Wellington yesterday' by the Awatea after a visit to Australia.

The Rt. Rev. M. Brodie, Roman Catholic Bishop of Christchurch, left Wellington for Christchurch by the steamer 'express last night. Mr. F. IL Bass returned to Wellington by the- Awatea yesterday from a business visit to Melbourne and Sydney.

Mr. N. S. Falla, chairman and managing director of the Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand, Ltd., i eturned to Wellington from Christchurch by air yesterday.

Mr. C. P. Agar, a member of the New Zealand Dairy Board and chairman of directors of the Tai Tapu Dairy Company, returned yesterday from Sydney by the Awatea. Mr. G. J. Hicks, Wellington, who has been on an extended visit to Great Britain and the Continent, returned yesterday by the Awatea from Sydney.

Dr. Benzoin Shein, Jerusalem, representative of the World Zionist Organization, left Wellington for Christchurch by the steamer express last night.

Mr. and Mrs. C. van den Bussche, Batavia, arrived at Auckland, by the Tasman from Saigon. Mr. van, den Bussche is vice-president of the Council of the Dutch East Indies.

Mr. R. C. Addison, inspector for New Zealand of the Bank of New South Wales, accompanied by Mrs. Addison, arrived at Wellington by the Awatea from Sydney yesterday. Mr. James H. Lynskey. who has been headmaster of the Taumarunui District High School for the past 14 years and has been teaching for 47 years, will retire on superannuation at the end of the term.

Mr. L. H. C. Riggs, accompanied by his sister, Miss G. Riggs, arrived at Wellington by the Awatea yesterday from Sydney. They will spend a few weeks in New Zealand before returning to Sydney.

Dr. G. D. Osborne, geologist at Sydney University, arrived at Wellington by the Awatea yesterday. He will go to England by the Rangitata, which will leave Auckland on Friday, to enter Cambridge University for research.

Mr. W. O. Rennie has been reappointed for a term of three 5 cats to the Board of Governors of Canterbury Agricultural College. He is one of two members of the board appointed by the Governor-General.

Mr. W. Smith,' immediate past president of the Wellington Commercial Travellers’ and Warehousemen’s Association, who has been on a business trip to Australia, returned yesterday by the Awatea from Sydney. Mr. Fergus Bennett, of Connahsquarv, Chester, England, arrived by the Awntea from Sydney yesterday in the course of*a»world trip. He has come to New Zealand primarily to visit his sister, wife of Captain T. Rowlands, Westport.

Mr. Arnold W. Johnson, general manager for the Orient Line in Australia, accompanied by Mrs. Johnson, arrived at Wellington on Saturday after an extensive tour of the South Island. Mr. Johnson will leave for Sydney by the Awatea today. Mrs. Johnson will remain with friends in Heretaunga till toward Christmas. Mr. E. S. Brittenden, district railwav traffic manager in Christchurch, left for Wellington last night to attend a departmental conference. Messrs. A. Clark and W. Rogers, district traffic managers in Dunedin and Invercargill respectively, were also passengers by the steamer express. Mr. G. H. Dawson, assistant manager of the South African Railways, arrived at Wellington by the Awatea yesterday. Mr. Dawson is on a world tour and intends to spend two weeks in New Zealand. His railway district in South Africa covers the whole of German East Africa with headquarters in Windhoek. The Rev. Father McCarthy, vicerector of St. John's College, Lismore, Australia, the Rev. Father Cocker, head of the agricultural department of the same college, the Rev. Father Joyce, head of the Marist Missioners, Sydney, and the Rev. Father Ryan, of the Dominican Order in Australia, arrived at Wellington by the Awatea yesterday on a holiday visit. Mr. R. Davies, Palmerston North, representative of the Wellington North district on the council of the New Zealand Society of Accountants since February, 1917, has tendered his resignation. In a letter to the executive he said that after such a long period of Service he believed that his place should be taken by a younger member. The president, Mr. M. 8. Spence, said that Mr. Davis's great work for the society was deeply appreciated by his colleagues. Worthy tribute to his splendid record of service would be paid at the next meeting of the council in February.

The Rev. C. W. Solomon has resigned from the position of vicar of St. Peter’s Anglican Church. Gonville, Wanganui, and last week he received a presentation from his parishioners. Mr. Solomon will continue to act till his successor, the Rev. V. C. Venimore, M.A., arrives from England in February. Mr. Solomon was educated at Dulwich College and came to New Zealand more titan 30 years ago. He was stationed in Feilding, Rongotea, Pahautanui, Manaia, and Opunake before going to Wanganui. He means to retire in Wanganui. Mr. Venimore is nt present assistant priest at. St. Paul’s Church, Croydon, England. He was educated at St. John’s College, Auckland, ami was curate at St. Mark’s. Wellington, before leaving for England.
