WAIWETU PROGRESSIVE ASSOCIATION
A special general meeting of the V !11 ‘ welu Progressive Association was held recently. The M.P. for Wellington Suburbs, Mr. Combs, was present by invitation and gave a short talk on the Social Security Act.
Mr. Cossl’ord mentioned the necessity for an additional letter box in southern Bell Road. It was decided to refer this to the postal authorities. Mr. J. McDonald stressed the necessity for the provision of bathing facilities m the Waiwetu district, and it was decided to seek the co-operation of the committees of tbe Waiwetu and Waterloo schools with a view to taking action in this respect. It was agreed to ask the members of Parliament, for the district to assist in having the extension of Waiwetu. Road to Bell Road completed as soon as possible.
In view of the large number of new members who are keen gardeners the association decided to arrange for a Hower and vegetable show. It was considered that this would be an incentive to the members to get the best out of their gardens.
