STILL NO SERIOUS ACCIDENTS
Road Safety Week In Wellington
With two days of Road Safety Week left, Wellington still has a record unspoilt by serious accidents, and the pennant flies at the top of the Town Hall mast still. Yesterday closed without the occurrence of anything like a substantial collision. The best the opposing forces could do was a mild affair in Lambton Quay last evening, when a car was driven too close to the tramline and had its front mudguard dented by a tram. ‘The remaining two days are regarded as the most* critical of the seven, but if the heavy weekend traffic is carried on with the same eare which has marked the last five days there is a good chance that Wellington will come, through the trial with a spotless record. FLOATS ARRIVE AT AUCKLAND Procession Through City By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, December 9. Bearing grim warnings of the perils of the road and making a strong appeal for the exercise of care by all road-users, the Transport Department’s six safety-week floats created widespread attention when they arrived at Auckland this afternoon after touring the southern districts of the North Island. The floats topk part in a procession through the city streets at one of the busiest times of the week, and their message was made clear to thousands of people, pedestrians as well as motorists. '
