OLD GIRLS' DINNER
Queen Margaret College Association 'flic annual dinner of the Queen Margaret College Old GirH’ Association was held at James Smith’s tearooms last week. About !»0 old girls were present and enjoyed Hie opportunity 10 renew old friendships. The guests of honour were the principal of Hie college, Miss Irene Wilson, who was wearing a gown of amyrliest lace; the president of Hie association. Miss Doreen Kersley, in gold embossed lame; and three members of Hie staff who will l>e leaving shortly I<> go abroad, Miss B. Menard, Aliss D. Vyuer and Miss M. C. Clu'elmii. Tlie secretary of the association, Aliss Alary Shiddeu. was wearing a frock of soil draped georgette in fueshia touiugs, and Hie treasurer. Miss Barbara Edie, wore summer blue georgette.
On behalf of the association, Aliss Kersley wished the travellers ‘‘bon voyage” and a safe return. The following toast list was honoured“The King” (proposed by Aliss AAHlson) ; ‘‘The School’’ (proposed by Aliss Judith Luke and replied to by Aliss Vyner) ; “The Old Girls’ Association” (Aliss Esther lloby and Aliss Helen Widdop) ; and “Absent Friends” (Aliss Nan Shaw). After dinner a pleasant time was spent over coffee in the comfortable lounge. Songs were sung by the Alisses Alargaret Armour and Kathleen Bears, with Aliss Eleanor Wright accompanying, and recitations were given by Aliss Ala rguerite Thompson. Yesterday was Queen Margaret Day, which the school observed by a special service at St. John’s Church. The school choir sang and many of the old girls were present. Today the school athletic sports will lie held on the Hutt Recreation Grounds, starting at 2 pan.
