Losses To The Sport By Death Reference to the recent dentil of three prominent bowlers xvas made al last night’s meeting ol the Wellington Boxvliug Centre by the president. Mr. M J. Casey. The Island Bay club had lost a valued member in Mr. George Key, xvho had served On its committee lor many years. Mr. Casey said. He xvas au ex-president of the club and had been, not only a good bowler, but also a good citizen. The deaths had also occurred of Mr. A. Woolley, a xvcllknowii and popular member of the Hatiiitai club, and Mr. John Wright, a I’oundal ion member ol the Plimmerton club ami also 11 player under the Wellington centre. Members stood iu silence as a inui'k of respect. Midweek Competition. The Hataitai club wrote suggesting that a trophy be given for the midweek competition. Discussion centred round the point whether there should be a small pennant given yearly or a large pciinant to be inscribed with the names of the xvinuei’s each year. On the casting xote of the president, it was decided to procure one pennant —-not to be insciibedto be transferred to the winners annually. The usual centre certificate is to be presented to the winning club. The Public Service Bowling Association was granted permission to hold the public service tournament ou February 2, 1939.
