LOYALISTS ADVANCE
+ Claim To Have Penetrated Nationalist Territory (Received November 9, 1.10 a.m.) BARCELONA, November 8. While General Branco’s troops were celebrating their recovery of part of the Ebro riverbank, the Government forces yesterday crossed the River Segre at several points to the southwest of Lerida, thereby penetrating nationalist Spain for the first time since the March retreat. A communique claims that they have already captured two enemy battalions, 24 machine-guns and 250 rifles, also the three villages of Soses. Aytona and Seros, cutting the Lerida-Fraga road. The advance is said to be continuing and may relieve present nationalist pressure on the Ebro front.
