WEEK-END WEATHER
Wellington.—Saturday was cloudy and mild with a fresh north-westerly breeze. Shortly after midnight the wind changed to a moderate southerly, and for the four hours ending nt 8.30 o’clock yesterday morning there was steady rain which amounted to exactly half an inch. A rapid improvement followed, aud the afternoon was beautifully sunny as the southerly had become very light. The day, although cool, was pleasant. The minimum temperature on Friday night was 44.1 deg., and tlie minimum on Saturday night was 43. S deg. The maximum temperature on Saturday was 54.4 deg.. and the maximum yesterday was 60deg. At 3.30 o’clock yesterday afternoon the temperature was 53.7 deg.. and the barometer reading was 30.03 in. Palmerston North.—Overcast, but mainly fine during the week-end, with a light south-westerly wind. A few showers fell on Saturday. Yesterday temperatures again became warm. Masterton. —Saturday morning was bright and sunny, but the afternoon was overcast with a strong northerly wind. Yesterday was fine, but overcast, witli a cold southerly wind. Wanganui.—Saturday was dull and threatening, with a strong westerly wind all da?. Yesterday there were several heavy showers in the early morning, but there was an improvement later in the day when the sun came out. New Plymouth.—Saturday was overcast all day. Yesterday was sunny, with some clouds, and a west-south-west wind The barometer nt 5 p.m. read 30.05 in. Waipukurau.— Saturday’s weather was brilliantly fine, with a maximum temperature of 70deg., and a barometoi reading of 29.90 in. Yesterday overcast, with frequent s-howers. The glass rose four points to 30.20 in. Napier and Hastings.—Saturday was fine , and sunny, but showers fell in the evening. Sunday was showery in tlie morning and overcast in tlie afternoon. South-east wind. Auckland. —Unsettled aud showery or. Saturday Yesterday was lino hut dull, with a wind frosh to strong from tlie south-west. The maximum temperature was 65deg. Overcast, with an easterly wind, in the morning but fine and sunny during the afternoon, and thereafter cold with rain threatening.
