Tributes To Late Miss M. A. Newcombe

WANGANUI, October 20.
An appeal lor £5OO to provide a suitable memorial to Miss Milurcd Newcombe at the Karitane Hospital, Wanganui, has been launched by Dr. H. L. Widdowson, medical superintendent at the Wanganui Public Hospital. The mayor of Wanganui, Mr. W. J. Kogers, makes tire following appeal to citizens and people of Murrouuuing to support the appeal which is being made for subseriptious to the Mildred Newcombe Memorial
"It is seldom that oue person, by assiduous attention to duties, has made such a deep impression upon the community as did Misis Newcombe iu the course of her life among us. It ia indeed titling that the memorial should be associated with the work of the Pluuket Society. 1 believe that it would have given her the greatest pleasure had Miss Newcombe known iu her lifetime- that after she was dead her spirit would still live iu the work which she loved so well and iu the institution to which she contributed so richly in service.” A gift ol £5O from Dr. and Mrs. H. D. Robertson has been acknowledged by the town clerk, Mr. G. Murch.
