Visitors to Wellington Mr. and Mrs. Derek Gould, Christchurch, will visit Wellington for the spring race meeting. Mrs. D. Clifton Lewis, Reinuera, Auckland, is visiting Wellington. Miss Hilary Kidson, Dunedin, is visiting Wellington, and is the guest of Mrs. D. R. White, Coromandel Street.
Mrs. Price is a Napier visitor to Wellington and is staying at the Grand Hotel.
Mrs. A. Brown, Annandale, Sydney, is spending a holiday with her sister, Mrs. G. Taylor, Hawkstone Street, Wellington. Before returning to Australia she will visit her sister, Miss Gunnell, Christchurch. c Mrs. E. J. Mackinnon, Napier, will arrive at Wellington by the express to-day for race week. Mrs. H. Elworthy, Timaru, arrived at Wellington yesterday. Mrs. H. G. Denham, Christchurch, arrived at Wellington yesterday morning.
Miss Phyllis Graham, Auckland, will arrive to-day to spend a holiday with her mother, Mrs. Hugh McGill, Eastbourne.
Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Cheetham, Palmerston North, are visitors to Wellington.
Mrs. A. E. Rawson, New Plymouth, is on a short visit to Wellington.
Returned To Wellington
Sir Alexander and Lady Roberts, Lower Hutt, who visited “Woodbank” for their son’s wedding to Miss Betty Murray on Saturday, returned to Wellington yesterday morning.
On Holiday
Mrs. J. F. Crawford and Miss Mary Crawford, Lyttelton, are the guests of Mrs. T. Davies, Ngaio Downs, Marlborough. Mrs. T. Mason, Masterton, Is visiting her mother, Mrs. B. Morris, Rongokokaho, Wairarapa. Mrs. A. L. Humphries, New Plymouth, is spending a short holiday at Wanganui. Miss E. Ford, New Plymouth, is on a holiday visit to Napier. Miss Montgomery Moore, Victoria Avenue, Wanganui, is paying a brief Visit to New Plymouth. Miss Alison Luxton, Christchurch, is the guest of Mrs. C. R. Wihite, Cumbrae Place, Wanganui. Mrs. E. Cathray, New Plymouth, is on a visit to Auckland.
Miss P. Paterson, Wellington, left Cor the South Island last night. Miss Vivien Allen, Palmerston North, is the guest of Mrs. B. J. Qhesswas, Wanganui. Mrs. T. C. Rayner, New Plymouth, who returned last week from a visit to Wellington, is now on a visit to Hamilton.
Mrs. Athol Wilson and Mrs. F. 0. Hutchison are Wanganui visitors to New Plymouth.
Mr.' and Mrs.' C. Gaunt, Wellington, were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Anderson, Palmerston North, for the recent Townshend-White wedding. Mrs. C. W. Matthew, Palmerston North, is the guest of Mrs. R. Guy, St. John’s Hill, Wanganui. Mr. and Mrs. R. White, Mangawhata, and Messrs. T. and R. White, Waitara, were visitors to Palmerston North for the Townshend-White wedding.
Returned Home
Mr. and Mrs. Tony Wall, Palmerston North, who have been staying with Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Moodie, Glentui, Masterton, have returned home.
Mrs. W. J. O’Connell and Mrs. J. Harris have returned to Napier from u visit to Masterton and Wellington.
Mrs. W. T. Churchward, who has been visiting her mother, Mrs. W. H. Skinner, New Plymouth, has returned to her home at Blenheim.
Mrs. I. G. Glennie, Parnell, Auckland, has returned from a visit to Wellington.
Returned From Abroad
Mrs. M. Tanner, Wellington, returned by the Aorangi after a trip through England, the United States and Canada. Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Moston have returned to Wellington from Geneva, where Mr. Moston, assistant secretary of the Labour Department, attended the International Labour Conference.
Owing to sickness, there was a small attendance at the October meeting of the Parewantti Women’s Institute, and In the absence of the president, Mrs. Whitehead welcomed the members. “Smile and the world smiles with you; weep and you weep alone,” was the motto.
Garden notes were supplied by Mrs. Klatt. This was followed by an interesting demonstration on daisy knitting by Mrs. Whitehead. Parcels were collected -to send to the Makogai lepers, and potatoes for the potato-growing competition were distributed to the members. The competitions resulted as follows: —Painted wood-work, Mrs. Whitehead 1; best bloom, Mrs. Homes 1. Arrangements for the November meeting were made; the demonstration will be beaded jug covers and the competition will be the prettiest jug. The hostesses will be Mrs. Tattle and Mrs. Brookie.
