Musical Afternoon At
"Homewood"
Musical afternoons at “Homewood” are a great treat for those who are able to attend them, and a large number of people availed themselves of the opportunity yesterday afternoon, when Mr. and Mrs. B. Sutherland lent their lovely home to assist the ladies’ auxiliary of the Wellington Free Ambulance. Many people who arrived before the rain started were able to wander about the beautiful gardens, and everyone inspected the conservatories where masses of cyclamen and cinerarias were in bloom. A delightful musical programme, arranged by Mr. Herbert F. Wood, was given in the drawingroom. So great was the number of people present that many of them had to be accommodated in the spacious and comfortable hall, off which the drawing-room opens. Cyclamen, rhododendrons, and tinted lilies were the flowers used for decoration. The guests, on their arrival, were received by Lady Norwood, president of the auxiliary, who was wearing a clover ensemble with a matching hat. She was assisted by Mrs. Sutherland, vrho was in a frock of black sheer, with embroidered medallions in black silk. The programme consisted of songs bv Mrs. Wilfred Andrews, Mrs. H. Ainslie, Mrs. T. O. Goodwin, Mr. H. F. Wood, and recitations by Miss Annette Sloane. The accompaniments were played by Mr. R. Maddams. Afternoon tea was served in the dining-room by the committee. , Those on the committee who assisted with the arrangements were Mesdames D. R. Hoggard, A. R. Coad, E. J Hocking, J. W. Andrews, W. H. Gledh'ill. Sydney Smith, D. J. McGowan, E. P Norman, A. Meyer, V. Thompson, G. Lawrence. W. F. Walshe, C. Aston, F. N. R. Meadows, and Miss I. L. Bulk
