Prohibition Of S.P. Betting (Received September 9, 10.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, September 9. The Amended Gaming and Betting Bill, which prohibits off-the-course, or starting price, betting, passed the Legislative Council to-day The Bill makes illegal the dissemination of betting odds or information before the start of the last race by any person not on the racecourse. Certain wireless stations are thus directly affected. Heavy penalties are also provided against professional tipping. Amendments to 'the Bill include one prohibiting the publication of tiie starting price before the last race by newspapers as well as by wireless stations.
