The barometer at 5 p.m. read 30.10 inches. Waipukurau.—lntermittent rain in the morning was followed by heavy rain in the afternoon. The maximum temperature was 52 degrees. Napier and Hastings.—Fine and overcast in the early morning. Heavy rain fell just before noon, but the sky cleared toward evening, and the outlook for fairer weather was good. Light southwest breeze. Auckland.—Cloudy, with a light to moderate northerly wind. The maximum temperature was 58 degrees, and the barometer was fairly steady, the reading at 5 p.m. being 30.07 inches. Christchurch. —Overcast and cold in the morning, with a south-west wind, but the weather later cleared, and the early afternoon was warm and sunny, the wind changing to northerly. The maximum temperature was 50.3 degrees, and the barometer at 5 p.m. read 30.35 inches, and was steady. Dunedin.—A light breeze from the northeast, nnd the sky wa« cloudy, sunshine being intermittent. Temperatures were mild to warm, the maximum being 54 degrees. The barometer fell in the morning, but was steady later at 30.40 inches.
