PARADE' YESTERDAY By Telegraph—From The Watcher. WANGANUI. September 9. The Debutant- Stakes, to be run at Wanganui to-morrow, always attracts considerable interest, but this year's race has the added distinction of being the first of the season for two-year-olds. Tableaux, Varimond, and Endorsement will be a triple bracket, all being owned by Mr. Symes, who has the last-named pair leased. Submission and Portal are also bracketed. A parade of two-year-olds was held on the course this afternoon and attracted considerable interest despite the unfavourable conditions. There were 25 entries, but only about a dozen paraded, including one or two not entered for racing at the meeting. The youngsters were dispatched by Mr. Price from a proper barrier start and although nothing strenuous was exacted from them over the two furlongs the showings were of interest. Daniel Defoe (B. H. Morris), a big and Strong-looking colt by Defoe from Aratulla, an unraced mare by Arausio from Martulla, owned by Mr. L. H. Collinson, Palmerston North, finished first from Mr. G. M. Currie’s Limond—Homage filly Submission (R. McTavish), with Kobi (P. Atkins) third clear of the others. Kobi, Mr. Frank Ormond’s colt by Bulandshar from Lucinette, did not begin very well, but was smart afterward to run through on the rails. Daniel Defoe is not entered for the Debutant. Stakes.
Only one of the triple bracket, Tableaux, Varimond and Endorsement, was sent out, that being the last named. The best of the others appeared to be Authoress, who enjoys something of a local reputation.
Doubtful Starter.
Latest reports regarding Trackman, who pulled up lame after schooling last Tuesday morning, are not reassuring and it is .very unlikely that he will fulfil his hurdle engagements at Avondale.
