“I think he must hold the record of being the last man to come home from the war,” said Captain ff. J. Clark, at the annual meeting of the Wellington South African War Veterans’ Association last night, in mentioning that Mr. L. C. Tenuent, who left New Zealand in 1900 for the Boer War, was returning to this country for the first time on a visit: to his brother, Dr. Alan Tennent, of Wellington. ‘‘lt is unique that a man should come back from (he war nearly 40 years after it finished,” said Captain Clark, amid laughter. It was agreed that a function should lie held next week in honour of Mr. Tennent, who was a member of the fourth contingent to leave New Zealand.
