REMOTE DANGER OF GAS ATTACK

Report On Australian

Position

Canberra, August 19.

Dangers to which the Australian civil population would be exposed by a gas attack launched by hostile aircraft are discussed at length in a report which Marshal of the Royal Air Force, Sir Edward Ellington, has submitted to the Federal Government.

He confirms generally the conclusions reached by other authorities who have advised the Government that dangex of attack by gas bombs is remote. Acting on his recommendations, the Federal Government has decided that it is not necessary to undertake the instruction of the public in anti-gas measures.
