SUCCESSFUL BALL
Insurance Companies' Combined Event
“Jest and youthful jollity,” as the words of an old rhyme have it, were advantageously combined with excellent dance music to set the seal of success on the annual ball of the Wellington branch of the Insurance Institute of New Zealand, held last night at the Mayfair Cabaret. Four hundred dancers crowded the door at one of rhe most successful balls- of the “business” category this year. Bowls of pussy willow and spring blooms were banked about the central “island” ou the dance lloor, and green and primrose twisted streamers echoed the spring-like colour scheme. In the supper-room, “candelabra” fashioned silver vases were filled with flame-coloured poppies. Here a savoury supper was served.
The committee responsible for the ball arrangements were Messrs. W. J. Christophersen (convener), J. Harte, T. Chapman, W. D. Lane, J. Russell, A. Mac Lean, J. Scott, C. McColl and Miss H. ‘Bannister.
Among the official guests were; Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Robinson, Mr. and Mrs. C. W. R. Little, Captain and Mrs. G. Lidgett, Mr. and Mrs. W. O. Gibb, Mr. and Mrs. K. Akers, Mr. and Mrs. J. H.
