Dominion Special Service
Auckland, August 19.
The new racing season in Auckland will be opened with the Pakuranga Hunt meeting at Ellerslie to-day. The weather outlook is doubtful this evening and the track is sure to be very heavy, a good deal of rain having fallen lately. The single pool system of betting will be in operation, with two in fields of five or more.
Because of the large number of acceptors, it is almost certain that the Sylvia Park Handicap will have to be run in two divisions, in which case dividends will be paid on the winners of the divisions only.
