Hawke’s Bay-Wellington Rugby Match
REPRESENTATIVE LEAGUE GAME
The principal outdoor attraction in Wellington this afternoon will be the representative Rugby football match between the Hawke’s Bay and Wellington fifteens. The match will start at 3 o’clock, and a curtain-raiser will be supplied at 1.30 if the ground is in a fit state, by junior teams representing Wairararpa and Wellington. Rugby League.
A Rugby League football match will be played at Newtown Park this afternoon between teams representing Canterbury and Wellington.. Play will start at 3 o’clock, and a curtain-raiser will be supplied by Miramar and St. George, the two leading reserve grade teams.
Association Football. The Wellington Football Association will continue its grade championship competitions this afternoon, when the following first division matches will be decided :— . , First A division, 2.4 a ,p.m.: First round Auld Memorial Cup, Petone v. Hospital, Basin Reserve No. 1; Diamond v. Technical 0.8., Anderson Park No. 1. First B division, 2.45 p.m.: Semi-final Victory Cup, Koro Koro v. Institute Ojß., Crawford Green. The Wellington Hockey Association will proceed' with its grade championship competitions this afternoon, when the following senior matches will 'be played:— Senior A: Karori 1 v. The Port Nicholson Road Cycling Club will hold a 24-mile race for senior and a 12-mile race for juniors from Derwent Street Island Bay, this afternoon. The senior' race will start at 2.30, and the junior event at 2.45. The Poneke Cycling Club will hold a 30-mile time trial for seniors, and a 10miles time trial for juniors, for the chib championship, at Kaiwarra to-day. lhe races will start at 2.15 p.m. The Petone Cycling Club will hold a 50-mile club championship race tor seniors, and a 20-mile race for Juniors, starting from the Grand National Hotel, Petone, at 2.30 this afternoon. Harriers. Wellington harrier clubs will continue their weekly runs this afternoon. The Wellington club will hold an invitation run from the home of Mr. R. Spence, 55 McKinley Crescent. Brookly The Methodist club will run from Wesley Church, Taranaki Street, with a special invitation from Mrs. S. Ingram.
