STATE THEATRE, PETONE
“Double Wedding’’ No more laugh-provoking picture has been on a local screen in years than “Double Wedding,” which opens to-day. Powell and Miss Loy were delightful in “Libelled Lady,” "After the Thin Man,” and others, but their combination of talents has reached its peak in “Double Wedding.” They have the support of an unusually able cast, including Florence Rice and John Beal, as the principals in the first wedding, Jessie Ralph. Edgar Kennedy, Sidney Toler, Mary Gordon, Barnett Parker, Katharine Alexander and Priscilla Lawson.
Mr. J. Watt, of the staff of the Government seed-testing station at Palmerston North, has been compelled to enter hospital at Christchurch, where he was attending the industries fair. He is reported to be progressing satisfactorily.
