DUCE PREPARES FOR WAR
Italians’ One And Only Privilege
TO BEAR ARMS FOR THE FATHERLAND
By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright.
Rome, August 11. “Italy has no illusions about peace, and is preparing for war,” declared Signor Mussolini when reviewing 25,000 officers and men to-day. “While gunS are booming in so many parts of the world,” he said, “illusion is folly and unpreparedness a crime. We are therefore getting ready. Italians have only one privilege and ambition —to bear arms in defence of the Fatherland.”
Signor Virginio Gayda, “Mussolini's mouthpiece,” commenting in the Giqrnale d’ltalia,” on Signor Mussolini’s speech, says that in face of the general darkening of the European world the situation is exacting from every country an armed determination to be ready. This means that Italy must be capable of the maximum of offence. The experimental exercises have confirmed that Italy is readier than ever.
