Health And Beauty Will Overcome Tiredness And Depression

CPRINGTIME brings with it a feeling of new beginnings, and it is an excellent time to consider your outlook on life and the ways in which you can improve it. You cannot be happy unless you are healthy, and you will not be attractive if you are always tired. This article suggests that, .for the coming spring, you make health the foundation for your cosmetics, and proposes toning-up treatments that make for freshness, clear skins and brighter hair for women who have that ‘ tired look.

GREAT many things can spoil a woman’s good looks and beauty, but her greatest enemy is tiredness. If anyone took the trouble to work out statistics it would probably be found that more than 90 per cent, of women who live or work in our large towns suffer, to a certain extent, from chronic tiredness.

Next time you walk down a crowded street or find yourself in a ’bus, tram or train during the rush hours, look at the women and youpvill probably be shocked by the realisation that almost every one of them is without any natural colour in her cheeks, that her eyes have nb sparkle, that many have very dark shadows under the eyes, and that most of the women’s shoulders droop from fatigue.

Work is not responsible for this chronic tiredness, liven long hours of strenuous mental or physical work will not harm a lielilthy, happy woman, but the woman whose physical and nervous

system is below par will become tired at the slightest provocation. No matter how much or how little money you may spend taking care of your personal appearance, it is money wasted unless you co-operate intelligently with the beauty treatments and provide the cosmetics with a healthy foundation.

If you are one of these habitually tired women, try to diagnose the cause of the trouble and then set about putting it right. Eat your food more slowly, chew each mouthful thoroughly and enjoy -every meal. If you are prone to colds and 'tin, take plenty of vitamin A foods every day. These include carrots, the outer leaves of lettuce, bananas, dates, tomatoes, green asparagus, milk, butter and egg-yolk. Lack of these foods is responsible for lowered resistance to infection. A tendency towards anaemia causes tiredness, washed-out complexion and circles under the eyes—the diet should then include vitamin C foods. These are oranges, lemons, grapefruit, tomatoes and raw green vegetables. Those who experience difficulty in obtaining regular internal cleanness need a high residue diet and abdominal exercises.

An occasional manicure will go a long way towards restoring your selfesteem. Brittle nails are due to a lack of calcium in the system and a tendency to rheumatism, and it is for a doctor, not a beatify specialist, to deal with this. But a good nail preparation will help externally. Too few women give enough thought to their cosmetics, and your beauty specialist will be glad to tell you what is most suitable for your skin, and what shades of powder, lipstick and gouge are most becoming to you.
