RUGBY LEAGUE
Canterbury-Wellington Match The board of control of the Wellington Rugby League at a meeting this week received an invitation from the West Coast Rugby League for a game on the coast for the Northern Union Cup. It was decided to endeavour to arrange a suitable date for this match. An appreciative letter was received from the Scots College Old Boys’ Association thanking the board for lending them the Wellington representative.jerseys for use in their annual game. Mr. F. Wisnesky was appointed manager of the Wellington team to play Canterbury in Wellington on August 20 and Mr. Paterson assistant manager. Mr. W. Simpson was selected as referee. August 27 was arranged as the date for Taranaki to play Petone at North Park. The curtain-raiser to this game will be provided by Town v. Country reserve grade players. Saturday’s Fixtures. The following fixtures were arranged for Saturday:— Seniors. Central v. St. Geofge, Newtown’Park, 3 p.m. \ Petone v. Randwick, North Park, 3 p.m. Newtown, a bye. Reserves: Newtown v. Central, Newtown Park, 1.30 p.m.; Petone v. Miramar, North Park, 1.30 p.m.; Randwick v. Eastern Suburbs, Showground, 3 p.m.; St. George, a bye. Third Grade. Randwick v. St. George, Randwick, 2.30 p.m.; . Miramar v. Eastern Suburbs, Showground, 1.30 p.m.
