Manawatu Gorge Road
Sir, —A recent blockage of this road set me wondering about what would happen if, in time of war, the gorge were blocked (perhaps permanently), by either external or internal enemy action. Though I do not believe there will be a war in the near future, this locality will always be a military weakness as it is at present. A much wider aperture in the ranges seems desirable. —I am, etc., ST. GEORGE. Palmerston North, August 8.
