LOCAL BODIES AND AMALGAMATION
Committee To Report On Bill Evidence that the Government’s proposals for the reorganisation of local bodies in New Zealand are not to be allowed to lapse is provided by the setting up of a committee in the' House of Representatives yesterday to “consider the scheme of local government amalgamation outlined in the Local Government (Amalgamation Schemes) Bill and to report generally on the provisions of the Bill.”
The members of the committee are: The Minister of Internal Affairs, Hon. W. E. Parry, Mr. W. T. Anderton (Government, Eden), the Speaker, Hou. W. E. Barnard,, Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates (Opposition, Kaipara), Mr. D. W. Coleman (Government, Gisborne). Mr. H. G. Dickie (Opposition, Patea), Mr. J. Harbest (Opposition, Awarrua), Mr. H. S. S. Kyle (Opposition, Riccarton), Mr. J. W. Munro (Government, Dunedin West). Mr. J. O’Brien (Government, Westland), Mr. J. Robertson (Government. Masterton), Mr. H. M. Rushworth (Independent, Bay of Islands), Mr. J. Thorn (Government, Thames), and Mr. C. Morgan Williams (Government, Kaiapoi).
