It seemed ridiculous that the Wades-town-Ngaio route was nottimproved so as to complete the alternative highway between Wellington ■ and Wie- westernpart of the North Island norfii tif JWinsonville, said tilt’ president t>f the Ngaio Progressive Association ; Mr. IL .L. Cummings, at a meeting, of. itij, committee last night. . ■ ' A motion expressing the desirability of the work proceeding twts carried, and a copy’- of it is to.be sent to the city council, the Automobile Associa ~ ; tio’n (Wellington) and the Exhibition? Company. s • Mr. Cummings said that wh'en the Ngahauranga Gorge Road was closed the tendency of vehicle drivers travelling southward from Johnsonville would be to take the Ngaif>route rather than the Onslow Road route. Seventenths would go that Ivay. While the Ngahauranga Gorge was clospd, as well as later, the- Wadestown-Ngaio Road would give relief to the Hutt Road. - Vehicles fron\. Karori,** Northland, i Wadestown, Kel-burn and other parts ■' of the city could travel by that road, ?' if it were improved, without .adding toy '' the traffic on the Hutt Road Z-t -■
