"Cinderella" To Be Played By Deanna Durbin
“CINDERELLA,” that story which i has enchanted children, and adults, too, for ages, is to be given life on the screen by Universal. Cinderella is to be played by her modern counterpart, Deanna Durbin, whose voice lifted her to wealth and fame. The picture will be made in technicolor with all of the fantasy and beauty the story contains, including the fairy godmother, the pumpkin that turns into a coach and the prince charming. It wilt be. produced immediately following Miss Durbin’s next starring vehicle. "That Certain Age,” and will be the first Durbin picture of the next production season. It will be directed by Henry Koster ami produced by Joe Pasternak, thereby reuniting the team which played a large part in the elevation of Miss Durbin to stardom in “Three Smart Girls” and “100 Men and a Girl.” The screen play is being written by Bruce Manning and Felix Jackson, Universal’s ace writers, who wrote “Mad About Music” and “The Rage of Paris.” Joe Valentine, who photographed all of the Durbin pictures, again will be in charge of photography.
