NGAIO IMPROVEMENTS
Progressive Association Publie improvements that have been made in Ngaio during the last 12 months are remarked upon in the annual report of the Ngaio Progressive Association. The year has been a memorable one because of the electrification of the railway, it states. The city council has done a certain number of street works. Perth Street in • particular being improved. Negotiations are well forward for the improvement of Abbott Road and Crofton Road, and it is hoped that those works will be begun during the coming year. Improvements have been made at the post office also.
On many occasions the public ball is severely overtaxed in the opinion of the committee, and it recommends ils successor to endeavour to secure improvements. The demand for baths has not been overlooked, but it is felt, that t!iburden that, increased costs have placed on the city council is so great that the erection of baths out of general funds has become impossible. With a new council in office it is felt tjial further efforts should be made toward obtaining the amenity.
