WEEK-END WEATHER
Wellington.— lt was line on Saturday morning, but overcast aud threatening iu the afternoon, with occasional light showers after 5 p.m. Heavier showers fell early yesterday morning, but the weather improved later. A fresh to strong northerly wind blew. Temperatures were cool. The minimum on Friday night wao 46.5 degrees, and the maximum ou Saturday 55 degrees. The minimum temperature ou Saturday night was 45.7 degrees, and at 3 p.m. yesterday the temperature was 51.8 degrees, and the barometer reading 218.865 inches. Tlie rainfall yesterday was 0.20 inches. Palmerston North.—The week-end was cold and miserable, a southerly wind with rain making outside conditions most unpleasant. There were several bursts of thunder shortly after midday yesterday. Masterton.—The week-end was dull and overcast, with continual showers. There was a light wind from the west. Wanganui.— Saturday was fine ami sunny, but heavy rain set in during the night. Yesterday was cold and squally, with thunder and lightning at times, and a strong north-westerly wind. Seas were rather rough. Tne ■barometer at 4.30 pan. yesterday read 28.94 inches. Napier and Hastings.— Fine and sunny during the week-end, with a light north-west breeze on Saturday, and a strong west wind yesterday. Waipukurau.— Saturday was a perfect day, with brilliant sunshine throughout. The maximum temperature was Now Phonouth.— On Saturday there were light showers. Yesterday was stormy, and there were heavy showers, with a west-north-west wind. The barometer at 5 p.m. read 29.10 inches. Auckland.— Boisterous weather with heavy showers or rain and _ severe squalls was experienced during tne week-end. Saturday afternoon was fairly fine, but rain fell during the night, and at intervals on Sunday. A fresh westerly wind prevailed.- The barometer was low and erratic, the reading at 3 p.m. on Sunday being 20 18 inches. The maximum temperature was 59 degrees, and minimum nO degrees. „ , . ~ Christchurch.— lt was fine but cold on Saturday after rain during the night. The wind was from the south-east. Rain began again from the south-west in the early hours of yesterday mornin”" and continued steadily all day, becoming heavier toward evening. The barometer reading at 5 p.m. was -Clinches, and was steady. Dunedin.— lt was fine yesterday, but the sky was dull all day, and temperatures were cool. There was a slight northeasterly breeze. The maximum temperature was 49 degrees, and the barometer fell to 29.15 inches. Yesterday morning was fine but dull, and in the afternoon drizzling rain set in. There was a slight breeze from the northeast. The maximum temperature was 44 degrees. The barometer continued to fall, reaching 29.12 inches.
