VEREENIGING DAY

Over 50 South African War veterans paraded at Wellington yesterday for the observance of Vereeniging Day in commemoration of the cessation of the Boer War. The parade, which was under the direction of Mr. J. J. Clark, marched to Queen Victoria's statue in Cambridge 'Terrace, headed by the Wellington Regimental Band, where a wreath was laid by Mr. Clark and the hymn. “Abide With Me" was sung. Subsequently the parade attended a commemoration service conducted by Chaplain-Colonel D. C. Bales at the Wellington Central Mission
