A story which, he said, might denote something of the characteristics of various churches was told by the Rev. W. J. Robertson (Presbyterian) at the Methodist Church bi-centenary celebrations in Invercargill. He recalled a story of a gathering of church representatives at which a (ire broke out. The Methodists immediately shunted: “Fire!” The Baptists called : “Water!” and the Presbyterians, “Order!” In that way, said Mr. Robertson, something of the variety in the churches might be gleaned.
