STRIKE BATTLE

Hundreds Injured And Gassed At Akron

Akron (Ohio), May 27.

At least 100 people were injured and hundreds of others were gassed when police and 3000 pickets battled for three hours at the strike-bound Goodyear rubber plant. Police, using tear gas and truncheons, moved on the pickets, who retaliated with stones and fouglit savagely in the blood-stained streets.

The Adjutant-General of Ohio, fearing further trouble, has ordered 3000 militia to be held in readiness for sudden mobilisation.
