Dental Diet Experiment

Sir, —In the issue of “The Dominion’’ dated May 23 a correspondent, signing himself “Precedent,” requested the Smith Family to give an outline of their future policy regarding the dental diet experiment. I would like to repeat the question. It will be remembered that the Smith Family sponsored the free mill: in schools scheme (unless I am seriously in error) which was afterward “Socialised" in schools in the Wellington district. It would therefore be of interest to hear from them if in the event of this experiment also being a success they intend to press for a system of compulsory feeding of school children following the precedent they have already established. These signs of increasing interference in the family life of our people are disturbing in the extreme and a definite statement as to the future intention of the Smith Family would be welcomed.— I am, etc., b. McDermott. Wellington, May 27.
