Police Raid Alleged Gaming House

AUCKLAND CITY PREMISES

By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, May 29. Fifty meu were arrested as the result of a police raid on premises in the city on Saturday night. The men were subsequently charged before a justice of the peace with gaming offences and were remanded on bail to appear in the Magistrates' Court to-morrow. Bail was fixed at £lOO in the case of Clarence William Russell, labourer, who was charged with being the occupier of the premises and with usindp them as a common gaming house. Walter Charles Absolum. slaughterman, and Bert Thomas, labourer, who were both charged with assisting in the management of a common gaining house, were remanded on similar bail. In the case of the others bail was fixed at varying amounts of £3 and £5.
