Federal And Cedillo’s Troops Clash

TRAIN DERAILED Secession Of San Luis Potosi Announced By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. (Received May 27, 5.20 p.m.) New York, May 27. A train between Mexico City and Laredo, Texas, was derailed during violent clashes between General Cedillo’s supporters and Federal troops. The supporters of General Cedillo killed two members of the train crew and robbed the passengers. Twentysix Americans were on board the train. Aside fr,om other desultory fighting between Government and General Cedillo's troops, an important development of the revolution was the publication of a manifesto issued by the Legislature of San Luis Potosi announcing the secession of the State from the central Government as from May 15.

OIL EXPROPRIATION

i Mexican Proposal For Compensation (Received May 27, 8.15 p.m.) Washington, May 26. The Mexican Ambassador submitted a written proposal to the State Department for compensation of the expropriated American oil interests with the request that it be submitted to the companies. .

The proposal, which is highly involved, will require several days’ study and will be submitted to the companies only if the State Department feels that it offers a basis for negotiation. It is not known 'whether a similar proposal was submitted to Britain.
