Request For Reduction

The driver of. every taxi-cab which enters one of the Wellington wharves has to pay a toll of Gd„ which is added to the passenger’s fare. The Wellington Co-operative Taxis Owner-Drivers’ Association, Ltd., considers that the charge is too heavy, and the secretary of the association has written to the harbour board requesting that it be reduced. It is pointed out that m Auckland the only charge made for taxis entering the wharves is one shilling per annum.
