DEATH FOLLOWING ACCIDENT

Invercargill, May 27.

Injuries which proved fatal were received last evening by Percy Jago Israel through the bicycle he was riding colliding with a motor-cycle driven by J. A. Walker, Bluff. Mr. Israel struck the radiator of the car and received a fracture of the skull and severe abrasions. He was taken to hospital, where he died at 11 p.m. Mr. Israel, who was aged 55, was well known in Southland, being chief clerk in the Invercargill office of Dalgety and Company, by whom he had been employed for 35 years, about 25 of which were spent in Invercargill. He was also widely known as a bowler. He was a former president of the Southland Bowling Club and had played for Southland. At one time he held the champion of champions singles title. He leaves a widow and one son, George Israel, a lecturer at the University of Tasmania, Hobart.
