General Easing In Tone At Feilding

GOOD CATTLE YARDED

Dominion Special Service. Feilding, May 27. There was an easier tone in the market at the Feilding sale to-day in practically all sections. Fat sheep were in excess supply ami generally speaking not in very finished condition, this accounting for the decrease. The few good pens of breeding ewes sold well, but there was not a particularly good choice on offer. For run cattle the demand was plainly easier, buyers getting some good stock at prices below recent rates. Most, of the penning was well bred and in forward order. Dairy stock of quality sold well, winter milkers being in strong demand. The beef market, was well supplied with prime station fattened heifers, the sale opening well. Following are the realisations: — Fat sheep: Lambs, prime heavy, 22/6 to 23/6; second grade, 20/- to 22/-; lighter, 18/- to 19/6; plain, from .1.6/-; best wethers. 28/- to 29/-; medium prime, 26/1 to 27/3; light. 24/- to 25/7; twotooths, 20/- to 26/6: prime ewes, 23/- to 24/-: good, to 21/-; light, from 13/-. Store sheep: Four and five year, r.w. S.D.r., 24/3; four-tooth to five-year, 31/6; two-tooth to five-year. 31/-; b.f. lambs, good. 12/4 to 14/-; fair quality, 10/6; ewe lambs, good, to 27/9; very good. 31/2; average lots, 20/-; poor, from 10/3: wether lambs, good, 17/2 to 18/4: average. 16/9. Dairy cattle: Cows, in milk, 31/- to £5/15/-: springing cows, best. £lO to £ll 11/-; second quality, £7/15/- to £9; others, £4 to £6/15/-; springing heifers, £6 to £B/15/-. Pigs showed a further improvement and poultry was easier al the Dannevirke mart yesterday. Small weauers brought 6/6 to 9/-. slips 11/- to 13/6, light porkers 16/6 to 21/-. Carterton Sale Carterton, May 27. Good yardings of sheep, cattle and pigs were offered at the Carterton sale today by Wright, Stephenson and Co. All classes of stock sold well, as follows:— Sheep : Two-tooth ewes, r.w. S.D. rams, 32/6; five-year ewes, r.w. S.D. rams, 29/-; s.m. ewes. r.w. S.D. rams, 18/6; f.m. ewes, r.w.
