EXTRA DAY’S HOLIDAY

Pupils Misled By Radio Statement Misled by a radio broadcast as to the date for starting school again after the first term holidays, from 20 to 30 pupils of the Hutt Valley Memorial College had an extra day's holiday. They were told before the holidays began that school would resume on Monday last, as is always the case with this secondary school with its night classes in distinction from others with no night classes, which resume on Tuesday. It was announced over the air by a station at Wellington that the college would not start again until Tuesday. When the pupils took their places in their respective forms on Monday, there were many gaps. The aliwmtees presented themselves next day and. questioned as to their late arrival, said that they had taken “for gospel” the radio announcement. , , The mistake, insofar as the boys are concerned, is- not likely to recur, I hey have been told to take their information from the right source, the school itself.
