Fishing From Wharves Breach Of By-laws
It is a breach of the Wellington Harbour Board by-laws to fish from a harbour board wharf or to clamber over a wharf gate. This was disclosed at the Magistrates’ Court, Petone. yesterday when Charles Edward Perry and Joseph Edward Chestennan were each, charged with (a) fishing at a wharf (Point Howard) contrary to section 132 of the board's regulations and (b) clambering over a wharf gate contrary to section 143. A witness for the board stated that fishing was not permitted from, harbour board property without permission. The case was adjourned, as the police had not produced a truly signed and sealed copy of the board’s regulations as required by the Evidence Act.
