HARBOUR BOARD
New Members Welcomed
The Wellington Harbour Board last night held its first meeting since the local body elections. The retiring chairman, .Mr. D. J. McGowan, welcomed to the table the new members and those who had retained their seats. The new members are Messrs. W. Appleton, G. London, J, W. Andrews, J. O. Johnson, and Sir Charles Norwood. Sir Charles, who is in Australia on a health trip, was granted leave of absence. Mr. McGowan expressed the hope that the work of the board would be found interesting. Responding, Mr. Appleton said that the new members would do their best in tlie interests of the board and of the 'Wellington harbour district. Mr. Andrews th,a.iked the staff for the information they had given him already as a new member. Messrs. London and Johnson also spoke. On the motion of the chairman, seconded by Mr. T. R. Barrer, the board expressed its high appreciation of the services given by the following former members: Mr. A. Fletcher, the Hons. P Fraser, W, Nash. R. Semple, and M. Fagan. M.L.C. Mr. Fletcher had been a member for eight years and the others for five years. Messrs. C. M. Turrell and C. 11. Chapman, M.P., spoke in support of the motion.
