Entertainment Activities Taken Over
(Received May 25, 9.40 p.m.) Sydney, May 25. f Australian and New Zealand Theatres Ltd., it is announced, lias taken over the entertainment activities of J. C. Williamson Ltd. The new company, which will have a capital of £105,000, has also acquired leases of the whole of the J. C. Williamson theatres in Australia and New Zealand and comprehensive plans will be considered for the development, of the legitimate stage and concert business as well as broadcasting. The board of directors comprises Mr. K. Asprey, Sir George Tallis, Sir Hugh Denison, Messrs. Arthur Alien, R. Denison, Hugh Chambers, Frank Tait, Stanley Crick and George Dean. The. last-named three are managing directors.
The subscribed capital has been privately underwritten by a strong group of Sydney and Melbourne investors.
