PRESIDENT’S EFFORTS TO STAMP OUT REVOLT

‘ Mexico City, May 24.

President Cardenas sent out troops fanwise from San Luis Potosi in an effort to stamp out the revolt. He took preliminary steps to call a meeting of the Senate in order to elect a provisional Governor of San Luis Potosi.

President Cardenas also called on the governors and legislatures of all the States to declare loyalty to him. He ordered the arrest of Senor Trinidad Alamillo, Secretary-General of San Luis Potosi.

The Defence Ministry has announced rliat Senor Hipolito Cedilla, a nephew of General Cedillo, overlord ofi the State of San Luis Potosi, .was killed with eleven followers in a clash with Government troops.

The announcement added: “Federal forces are pursuing the rebels and we shall soon liquidate this situation. We are granting ample guarantees to the peasants, who have been misled and are now returning to their homes.”
