OBITUARY

Mr. J. M. Wilson London, May 22. Mr. Joseph Macartney Wilson, a proprietor of the “New Zealand Herald,” was found dead, apparently from heart failure, in a bathroom at Saint Ives, which he was visiting with his family. Mr. Wilson was the youngest son of the late Mr. J. L. Wilson, and grandson of Mr. W. C. Wilson, founder of the “New Zealand Herald,” states a Press Association message from Auckland. He was born in Auckland, and was educated at Queen's College, and later at Prince Albert College. As a young man he worked for some time in the "Herald” office, but during recent years he lived in retirement at his home in Portland Road, Remuera. He was a shareholder in Wilson and Horton, Ltd., and a director of a number of local companies. .One of his greatest hobbies was yachting, and he was among the early members of the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron. More recently lie sailed in power boats. He was also a member of the Auckland Golf Club, one of the founders of the Remuera Golf Club, and for many years a member of the Auckland Raring Club. He was a member of the Northern Club, and a life member of the Navy League. During recent years Mr. Wilson was in indifferent health, and when lie left for England in March he was accompanied by Mrs. Wilson ami their family, Joseph Liston Wilson, Chisholm Martin Wilson, and Miss Gay Wilson.
