SHIPPING OFFICERS’ GUILD

New Clubrooms Opened The large new clubrooms of the Shipping Officers’ Guild in Wellington were officially opened on Monday afternoon before a large attendance of guild members by Mr. N. S. Falla, chairman and managing director of the Union Steam Ship Company, who congratulated members of the guild on the acquisition of their very line clubrooms. Mr. A. D. Bayfeild, general manager in New Zealand of the Federal Steam Navigation Co., Ltd., also spoke, dealing with the early days of the guild. Representatives of the oilier overseas shipping companies were also present and were thanked by the Wellington district chairman, Mr. N. McQtiiston. for their interest tint! help in establishing the guild in its new clubrooms. Last night a social gathering ami dance was held in the clubrooms, about 150 being present. i
