Electricity In Wairoa (From “The Dominion,” April 30, 1913.) The borough of Wairoa was lit electrically for the first time on Saturday night. Considerable public interest was shown in the installation. The plant ran very smoothly, giving every promise of an excellent light. * # * The New Zealand Films Company has been formed, comprising the present firms of J. D. Williams Ltd., Fuller’s and Hayward's. The company will, it is stated, practically control the picture business in New Zealand. ♦ * » “There were two of the older girls who had never even seen a train—they didn’t know whether a lake was bigger thafi a river!” said Mr. T. Moss, referring at the meeting cf the Wellington Eduction Board yesterday to the country school excursions to H.M.S. New Zealand while it was at Wellington. * # * Aucklanders turned out in their tens of thousands yesterday to welcome the battle-cruiser New Zealand, which dropped anchor in the stream shortly before 2 p.m., and even the elements combined to ensure the success of the celebrations of an historical day. The most impressive function of the afternoon was the meeting of the warship by the full flotilla of the city’s power-boats, pleasure craft and yachts.
