Aircraft Workers Prepared To Agitate For Strike By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. (Received April 25, 5.30 p.m.) London. April 24. The National Emergency Labour conference regarding Spain, which is being attended by delegates from 1203 organisations, voted unanimously to support the Republican Government, and with this end in view will make an appeal to the British and French Governments and trades unionists. The conference decided to request, the Trades Union Congress to convene it meeting to decide on coercion upon the British Government to save Spain. The Schofield Aircraft Shop Stewards’ Council said the union was not prepared to co-operate with the Government in rearmament on the basis of the present policy. They were prepared to agitate for a factory strike to compel Britain t.o send arms to Spain. LOYALIST CLAIM Two Rebel Battalions Trapped (Received April 25, 7.30 p.m.) ' London, April 24. The correspondent of the “Daily Telegraph” says the loyalists entrenched in the Tremp section claim to have trapped two rebel battalions in Rionoguera Valley, where machine-gunners almost annihilated them. A report from Saragossa states that the rebels attacked north-east of Teruel and captured Aliaga. A Madrid communique, admitting a rebel advance south of San Mateo, says the enemy put up a barrage of 4000 shells, followed by four onslaughts'of troops. The Republicans claim the capture of the villages of Alins and Mallolis. in West Andorra, also minor successes in the Tremp zone. A message from Salamanca says that General Franco’s troops are moving southward on the eastern coast and have reached Alcala de Chisvert. They have also captured the Republican position of Usera, §outh-west of Madrid. The Republicans insist that on the Madrid front the stalemate is unchanged. SUNK BY CRUISER Ships Carrying Loyalist Troops (Received April 25, 7.30 p.m.) Paris, April 24. The cruiser Canarias is reported to have sunk a number of small vessels conveying republican troops attempting to reach Valencia. It is believed that all perished.
