Only One Favourite Wins At Avondale GAY ROSE SCORES Francis Drake Beaten In Foley Memorial By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, April 23. Although ehowery weather marred the opening day of the Avondale Jockey Club’s autumn meeting, there was a good attendance, and keen racing. The course was holding. The totalisator investments were £34,463/10/-, against £37,837 last year, at decrease of £3373/10/-. ■ Bollowing the running of the Avondale Hurdles, the committee disqualified K. K. Savage, jockey of Celtic Bad, for six months, for not riding out his mount under Rule 282. The owner, Mr. H. R. Clarke, was not present, and will be asked to appear before the committee on Wednesday.
