BASE METALS MARKET
Tin Lower; Others Steady
By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Loudon, April 22. The official London (middle) quotations, as reported by the Australian Mines and Metals Association, compare with those previously cabled as follows:—
Maize From Gisborne Maize has been moving more freely forward from Gisborne to consuming centres lately, although there has been $ lull during the Easter holidays. Fairly large shipments have been made to both Auckland. and Wellington. The entry of Wellington into the market is of interest because for some time Wellington demand from Gisborne had ceased. The position therefore is regarded, as more hopeful for the next few mouths and a greater part of the existing stocks should, be cleared before the new crop is available. Prices remain unaltered at 5/3 a bushel for both prompt and May delivery. • Picking is fexpecte_d to commence three to fo.ur wefks earlier this year. The crops have done well and maturity has been hastened by a long period of hot weather. New Zealand Fruit In London By Telegraph.—Press assn.—Copyright.
