MONDAY’S WRESTLING
The Wellington Wrestling Association will enter upon the 1038 season in earnest next Monday night, when a bout will be presented at the Town Hall between Andy Moen and “Irish” Jack Kennedy. Moen was one of the first of this year's men to arrive and has established himself as a firm favourite in Auckland, where he beat Pat McKay in his first bout and Abe Tourist in the second. Kennedy arrived in Wellington yesterday to commence training for his New Zealand debut. Moen’s Auckland appearances have caused him to be ranked as one of the best wrestlers ever brought to New Zealand, and have been fully in line with his overseas reputation. His record includes a draw with the world champion, Bronko Nagurski, shortly before the latter secured the title, and victories over Sonnenberg, two of the Duseks, and George Zaharins. His great size —he is just under 6ft. in height and weighs nearly list. —enables him to make deadly use of the hammerlock, while he can also exploit the flying tackle and dropkick with spectacular effects. Kennedy, who is another six-footer and weighs in at IGst. 31b., is a magnificent specimen with broad shoulders and powerful limbs. Soundjy trained in wrestling at the N.M.U. College, Dallas, be spent a year under the tuition of Farmer Burns before he commenced wrestling as a professional. Since then he lias done well, having beaten Yvonne Robert, the famous French-Canadian. Stanley Pinto, a former holder of the New Zealand championship, and all the Duseks.
